POR EL DERECHO A MORIR CON DIGNIDAD – DMD México, A.C. –
Is honored to invite you to the inaugural webinar of 2021

THE CHALLENGE OF SUFFERING

FIFTH DIALOGUE

Often, the decision to end one’s life comes when a person receives a terminal diagnosis or physical pain limits much of what makes life meaningful. Palliative care, access to pain medication and compassion ease the pain. Existential suffering is harder to manage.
This dialogue will address both physical pain and the ideas we have about suffering. How both affect not only those with terminal illnesses but also those with chronic diseases and disabilities; those who believe their lives have been completed and wish to transition; and others who suffer unrelenting emotional and existential pain.
Frances Kissling will discuss the cultural inheritance of Catholic thought about suffering. Is it redemptive or repressive or possible both?
Margarita Araujo Navarette will share with us her extensive experience in palliative care and the relationship of physical pain to emotional suffering for those at the end of life.
